It’s a fight that the boxing world has been waiting to see for a year, but it will be a non-title bout. Garcia and Peterson will meet at a catch weight of 143 pounds. The favorite Garcia weighed in at 142.2 pounds, while Peterson barely made weight and was forced to take off all his clothes after weighing in at 0.2 pounds over the limit.

The fight is only scheduled for 10 rounds, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN. One can only guess why the fight is only scheduled for 10 rounds instead of the normal 12 rounds, but it’s likely out of concern for Garcia to make sure he doesn’t gas out and look bad in a 12 round fight.

Garcia will be carrying an extra three pounds over the normal 140 pound weight that he’s been fighting at. In his last fight against little lightweight Rod Salka, Garcia fought at a catch-weight of 143 pounds in that fight as well, but the fight was over quickly with Garcia blasting out the overmatched Salka.

The undercard will have former WBO 160lb champion Peter Quillin challenging for the WBO middleweight title against champion Andy Lee in the co-feature bout.

The Garcia-Peterson fight was a fight that fans thought was going to take place in 2014, but instead we saw their mutual adviser Al Haymon setting them up in mismatches against the likes of Rod Salka and Anglo Santana.

This fight seemed so good in the beginning but when they put it as a non title fight, it is now non worthy! When you hold championships and you defend them the fighter is fighting at a higher caliber cuz he knows that those belts represent the best and therefore youre fighting at your best! But now with two champions fighting a non title fight, they know that if they lose theyre still gonna hang on to those belts which then in return makes them fight shitty fights! Garcia beating peterson means nothing, so hopefully after this fight he'll fight his number one mandatory.
